Software Engineer (Web) (Full-time)

Our cloud-based Price Intelligence Platform™ provides retailers and manufacturers with real-time pricing intelligence and analytics by tracking, analyzing, and reporting on hundreds of millions of prices across millions of products.

Conveniently located in Ottawa’s lively Byward Market, Gazaro is looking to hire a progressive Software Engineer (Web) who thrives in a creative and ever-changing dynamic environment. A self-starter, you are motivated by challenges and energized by cutting-edge technology and solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Implementing new features and maintaining current features for gazaro.com.
• Write and test web crawlers and HTML extractors.
• Architect and develop a front-end portal to PriceIQ (price-iq.com).

We genuinely would like you to have all of these:

• Prior experience in writing web applications in Python.
• Experience and/or familiarity with MongoDB or other non-SQL database systems.
• Expertise with HTML, Javascript (jQuery) and CSS.
• Experience and/or familiarity with HTML5, Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Django, Tornado, or Flask.

And it would be really cool if you had:

• Cloud Computing (Google AppEngine, Amazon AWS).
• Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
• Social Media Applications (Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, Groupon, Quora).
• Wordpress, Drupal or other blogging platforms.

• Architect and implement solid staging and production environments on Linux environments using Amazon AWS and other cloud frameworks.
• Define and implement coding and testing standards.

• Ability to bring your own ideas to the table.
• A strong background in Linux administration.
• Demonstrated experience in writing applications using Python.
• Experience and/or familiarity with MongoDB or other non-SQL database systems (CouchDB, Cassandra, Redis, etc).
• Experienced and/or familiarity with nginx.
• Confident with standards Computer Sciences algorithms, standards and thought processes.
• Experience and/or familiarity with numerous “newer” or “main-stream” open-source technologies such as Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Django, Tornado, Flask or Hadoop.
• Strong background in math and statistics.
